Biography

Corey Birch was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. He started loving music in Elementary School playing violin. He enrolled at the Montana State University in Bozeman, to study Music Education, but was also involved in Composition and Conducting, which developed his love of music and his passion for teaching. He then studied Curriculum and Instruction at the American College of Education.

 

Corey’s inspiration and motivation come from the people around him. Most importantly in the works and life of Leonard Bernstein as one of America’s greatest Music Educators, the ideas and principles of Charles Ives, the passion from Gustav Mahler, and the humor of Ludvig Von Beethoven.

 

His accomplishments include being accepted as the First Assistant Conductor for the Montana State University Symphony Orchestra, Assistant Conductor for the Billings Youth Orchestra, Conducting Concerto Competition Winners and receiving the Friend of Music Award from the Northeastern Arts Network, for his work in a joint concert with the Foothills Brass Quintet in 2009.

 

Corey is now teaching in the Kent School District, south of Seattle WA. In his spare time he can be found composing, and traveling, gaining inspiration from his travels and the people around him. Corey Birch currently lives in Bellevue Washington with his Wife and Dog.
